Flower Wrap Up

Here are more flower pictures, most have been posted on Facebook, but I thought I'd put them together here.  Last year I still had Dahlia's blooming in November, so this may not be my last flower post this year.

Zinnia's in crayola colors.  My friend Linda bought me a FLAT of Zinnia plants, I had them everywhere in the yard.  We had a warm summer so they did great.

Flowers, flowers and more flowers

New quilt that was completed in record time.  I am enamored with Dresden plate blocks at the moment and love making them with striped fabric, they make such great flowers.  Thanks to Chris for taking this great picture when I showed it at quilt group.

 The Crocosmia are in full bloom, when they are done I need to dig them out and move them because they are shading my Sweet Peas.

This was my first Dahlia to bloom this year, Parkland Magenta.  Still waiting on a number of other plants to start their show.

May Color

 A little tour of the blooming colors in my yard right now.

 Mail order lilac from about 10 years ago that arrived as just a twig.  It's been moved several times but I think I've found the right place for it now.

 Lipstick Strawberry, very prolific spreader.  Anyone want some?

Late Dahlias

This first picture is what you normally expect to see this time of year.  We've been having very mild temperatures so far, no freezing yet.  This is my mini crab apple tree in full glory.

Unexpectedly, I still have dahlia's blooming.  There are a couple that because of their late start, are now having their first blooms.  When I planted them I documented all the names with a stick and what I thought was a permanent marker, but the names have disappeared, so I'm recreating my record.  I so wisely made a list of the dahlias I purchased this year.

This is September Morn.  The colors on these late flowers are a bit washed out, if they survive till next year they should be more intense.

And yes, I've decided not to dig up my bulbs this year.  The plants that bloomed the earliest and most were the ones I missed from last year.  We'll see what happens in Spring.

Maybe my last bouquet, then again, maybe not.

Poppies

I planted this variety of poppy several years ago and it continues to reseed itself.  I could have had my whole flower bed covered with poppies, but I have been diligently thinning them out to make room for my dahlias.  The blooms don't last very long, but the seed pods are a wonderful replacement.  Click on any picture if you want to see it bigger.

July Flowers

We are finally getting some warm weather, so the flowers are starting to bloom.  Here is today's bouquet.

 Shasta Daisies, Yarrow, Bachelor Buttons, and Sweet Peas.  I have 2 volunteer Bachelor Buttons in my flower garden, and both are my favorite blue.  There are a lot of purple sweet peas in the mix this year, last year I had none.

 Milo thought he should be in the picture, but then got bored with the process and decided to take a bath.  Or he could be saying "Not another one"

 Sophie also had to investigate.

We bought this flying pig at the Seattle Garden Show in February.  Dave likes to move him around to different locations on the deck rail.
