There were lots of interesting rock formations.

And some wildflowers were blooming, these
are Wallace's Eriophyllum (we bought the wildflower identification pamphlet)

We walked the nature trail in the
Cholla Cactus Garden.

Buds on the
Cholla that were close to opening.

This was the only open flower we found. I bet a few days later the garden was a lovely mass of blooms.

I think this is an "
innards" to the
cholla after they die, wonderful texture.

Some picturesque Yucca plants.

And of course a Joshua Tree. Notice the huge rock in the background that looks like it's about to fall down and crush everything below.
